Growing up I like to think of myself as a passionate, down to earth Individual. Always aiming for the best and I Never underestimated my abilities. Also had Dreams of begin a positive light to others and finding the smallest ways the make someone smile.
With that begin said when I got older shyness become a very big problem in my life and I felt like it was holding me back to many opportunities Life had in stored for me. So after graduating from High school I wanted to do more for my self, than just be a regular college student and make a good name while doing something positive for the community... Then came across Miss Africa Texas Pageant!. As scared as I used going into It I continued to encourage myself and tell myself I can do it, and was ready to take the position begin a good leader... and I DID!!! As hard and as difficult as it was,it was one of the most exciting experience in my Life. 20 contestants meaning 20 beautiful ladies with strong personality and platforms and was honored to make it to top 5... 2nd runner up and was crowed Miss Africa Texas people's Choice Queen 2010/ 2011 . After much success , I was also Privileged to wine and dine at the DFW International Dinner with 23 Mayors. The DFW International Community Alliance is the portal to international North Texas, a region where 44% of the residents are either New Americans or first or second generation. DFW International is a network of over 1,600 internationally-focused organizations in the DFW metroplex and embodies the cultural and economic vibrancy of the global community. Therefore,by my platform, which is ( Raising Awareness for little children with cancer) I felt was extremely fitting to be a part of this magnificent event! I can go on and on but honestly don't think there are enough words that could possibly describe the greatness of the DFW International Meeting & Dinner We attended( Ms.Jennifer the CEO of Miss Africa Texas Pageant) back in 8/26/10. Now I'm currently rounding up my Education at Sanford Brown college. And by the grace of God going into the Medical field. Also currently supporting a few Charities Organizations such as (keep a child alive) and (Houston habitat for humanity.) I also volunteer at the Houston help center downtown, and other works are in plans. I set realistic goals for myself, all though and i'm not done with most of them am very blessed to say at the age of 21 I've reached half my goals and had success in all!. And as we all know Miss Africa Texas played a big part in most of these goals... It definitely gave me the confident boost I was looking for and the support I needed. I believe if you are determined and focused in whatever you set your mind to do, you will Advance in it. I Dreamed I Believed and I Got Sincerely Sonia Green |
